Popular music group The LIRISTI the tarantula.

The popular music group The LIRISTI the tarantula was created in 2007 from an idea by Franco Pontoriero, a great lover and expert in this genre.

The name "The Liristi della Taranta" is a whole program, it contains the two keywords: Lira and Taranto.

The LIRA Calabrese is a traditional musical instrument, characteristic of some areas of the Calabria area and Locride area of Monte Poro (resort between Vibo Valentia, Tropea and Nicotera, and from which all members of the group).

Taranta (or Tarantella) is the typical dance of southern Italy and is the main rhythm that characterizes most of our repertoire.

The intent of our Association are:

a) rediscover, re-evaluate and disseminate folk songs and rhythms of old: Tarantella, PINCH, TAMMURRIATA, serenades, ditties, rhymes, music grecanica, Albanian, hymns of love, war and historical content;

b) re-discover, re-evaluate and disseminate the use and knowledge of musical instruments popular tradition lira calabrese, guitar flying, pip, pipe, friscaletto, mandolin, accordion, organ, tambourine, etc..;
